This is the story of Sweetie, the kitten. Sweetie was found was found by Save Cats & Obliterate OverPopulation, Inc. (SCOOP.)
“She was found with her mouth shattered, and her jaw was unattached from the palette and hanging,” said Barb Wehmann, who is the executive director of SCOOP.
Sweetie needed to have her mouth completely reconstructed and had over 35 stitches.
This little cat decided to fight hard to get better and was the most determined cat ever.
Sweetie surprised everyone in the most shocking way ever. She gave birth to one single kitten, which weighed just 2 ounces.
Despite everything Sweetie went through, this little kitty survived for the ten days her mother had gone without food and water.
The kitten, however, was in danger because Sweetie could not nurse her.
The staff had to work around the clock to help feed the baby and make sure the baby was given the proper nutrition and care she needed.
“At ten days old, the kitten was still the size of a stick of gum. She was named Jaax after the vet (Dr. Jennifer Jaax) who saved her mom’s life,” said Wehmann.
Sweetie put her own pain and suffering aside to care for her baby. Whatever Jaax needed, Sweetie made it happen.
Sweetie had her second oral surgery and is doing absolutely amazing. She fought through the pain and is now teaching her 5-month-old baby how to eat from a plate.
Sweetie is always with Jaax and never lets her out of her sight. She is a super protective of her momma. The two are the cutest mother-daughter duo ever!
