Animal Shelters Are Generally Sad Places. But Something Incredibly Heartwarming Happened…

Delaware and Kyra are two shelter dogs that became unexpected roommates at Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta, Georgia. Kyra, a 1-year-old lab mix, has become friends with Delaware, an 8-month-old Pit Bull mix. The two homeless dogs have instantly bonded and this photo of the pair sleeping together captures the two friends sharing a tender moment in an otherwise sad place.

The two dogs are searching for forever homes, but their future is uncertain. As many dog lovers know, their chances of making it out of the shelter are slim. But their sweet moment is a reminder to everyone to look to your local shelter to find your next friend. There are many wonderful, young dogs that have a lot of love to give, if just given a chance.

The shelter describes Delaware as “Cute little Delaware is only 8 months old and weighs 27lbs. She is very playful , high energy and friendly. She is waiting on a wonderful person to come and adopt her. She is already spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. She can leave with an approved adopter today. The shelter describes Kyra as “Cute little Kyra is just over a year old, and a very high energy and playful girl. She will be a fantastic walking or jogging companion. She weighs 36 lbs, is spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped and ready to go home today!” Click here to view Kyra’s adoption page.
