Tim Beshara tweeted the adorable photo this week of orphaned baby kangaroo, Doodlebug, cuddling his golden teddy. Beshara said Doodlebug’s wildlife caretaker mother sent the photo to him from her home in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia.
According to the Daily Mail, Beshara’s mother Gillian found Doodlebug after he had been abandoned as a newborn.
“He may have fallen out of his mother’s pouch, or his mother may have died,” Beshara said. “He was a couple months old when he was passed onto my mother’s wildlife company, WIRES.”
Gillian nursed the joey back to health and discovered he really liked the teddy bears that she had around her yard.
Many news outlets have identified Doodlebug as a wallaby, but Gillian said he is an eastern-grey kangaroo.
